ACTC Panel Discussion: Trent Larson & Time Safari

Monday, May 19, 2025

Here at the Anti-Censorship Technical Committee, we are centered on privacy, decentralization, and fighting censorship — we’re about fighting digital suppression wherever we find it.

I incorrectly call this a forum in the video, but this is the first in a series of panel discussions we will be having.

In this discussion we introduce ourselves and discuss what’s currently happening in the world.

Then, we move into a discussion of Trent Larson’s Time Safari system. This system is about tracking and recognizing interactions between individuals and projects, often showing what has been donated to a cause, but it can also record other types of interactions. One of the key things that Time Safari sets up is self-sovereign identities, and this is discussed in more detail in the video.

Trent later provided more information to clarify the message about what Time Safari is:

"We all have passion projects, and we all would like to work with others who share the same excitement. Time Safari aims to connect people to take action. You do this by making offers to work with other cool projects and people, by showing off the fun results of your work together, and by coordinating on bigger and bigger projects together. Leverage interests to build…It doesn't need to be only things given to be charitable, but all kinds of things that we give each other because we enjoy doing it with those people and see the result."

Enjoy the video. My apologies for the audio recording, which has a bunch of reverb that wasn’t present on my headphones, but I know I need to make adjustments to my setup for the next video.

If you know of anybody working in the fields of privacy, decentralization, anti-censorship, or adjacent areas who we should be talking to, please reach out to us using the Contact page on our ACTC website.

Thanks!
